“It’s time for your 15 minutes, Mr Grant”

I’ve never been on TV before. But I recently got to check that off my to-do list.

It started out by writing a blog about the Illinois teacher’s pension being in trouble, which led to being contacted by a Chicago Tribune writer who wanted some information about how Illinois teachers should be preparing their finances in light of the under-funded pension. This then led to a syndicated article which went across the country in various outlets, and led to an email from a producer of WGN TV Midday News (a Chicago affiliate of the CW network). That then led to an almost-four-minute segment on how teachers should be approaching their finances, what new teachers should be doing and if it’s any different than older teachers.

There’s also a comment made at the end that makes me break out in a big smile.

Check it out here, and thanks for allowing me to pound my chest in pride. Live TV is nerve-wracking, and I now realize I’ve lost enough hair that I will need makeup on my head next time!
